Fishing line is Deadly to Turtles
This past Wednesday a loggerhead turtle died after suffering a long and painful death subsequent to ingesting a fishing line and hook. There have been more turtle deaths due to entanglement from August to October 2008 then in the past year (August 2007 - 2008). These deaths are on the rise because of fisherman's negligence to properly dispose of their fishing line. It is she laziness on their behalf. There is no reason why there should be fishing lines that are improperly disposed of. There are ample places to throw away unneeded used lines either in recycling bins or in the garbage. Especially after the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo (BAMZ) made an effort to give part time fisherman a place to dispose of their lines. They placed 'fishing line disposal' bins in places where fishing normally takes place. So what is the problem? People need to be more aware of the impact that they are having on the environment. They may think that leaving their fishing lines at the dock or on the beach is harmless, but this incident actually causes horrific injures to all marine life. I strongly encourage all members of communities, located near the ocean, to recycle these fishing lines or if perhaps walking on the beach one notices these lines, to pick them up and properly dispose of them. This selfless act will increase the sanctity of the environment that these beautiful creatures live in.

Hayley, the blog looks good. The posts are informative and well-written. I would suggest using some photos to drive home your message. An image of turtles, trash, etc. would make a huge difference.
